Jacoby has held visiting academic positions at New York University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (China), and the University of Melbourne, and he taught in Singapore, Taiwan and Uruguay. Gady Jacoby has been the Acting Dean and Bryce Douglas Professor in Finance at the I. Before joining academia he worked at Pratt & Whitney Canada Inc., and Alcan Aluminium for ten years.His current research interests include the origins and development of workplace grievance and arbitration systems in Canada and the application and use of internet-based learning technologies in higher education. His research interests have included high strength aluminum alloys for aircraft applications, casting and processing of aluminum for high value added sheet products, processing/recycling of Al-Si alloys, and high temperature materials for gas turbine applications. He was appointed to a faculty position geochemistry at the University of Manitoba in 1983.Halden has served on several University committees, won 3 UTS awards, an Rh award, the University Outreach Award and the Berry Medal of the Mineralogical Association.Halden has made innovative contributions to the analysis of minerals using both low- and high- energy PIXE (proton-induced X-ray emission).Since joining the faculty at the University of Manitoba in December 1991, Dr.Scanlon has researched the properties of plant food materials, and how those porosity affects the mechanical properties of materials, with specific interests in the properties of cellular solids, such as bread.He has served on and chaired several NSERC committees dealing with instrumental installations.Halden also served as finance chair of the Mineralogical Association of Canada (1985-1999), and subsequently as President of the Association from 2002-2004.
